Counselling & Psychotherapy

A common goal in this kind of work is to enhance insight and awareness. Through increased awareness, our interactions should elevate your sense of personal well-being.

Psychotherapy offers an opportunity to engage in a process that is designed to collaboratively explore current problems and better understand their root causes. Emphasis is placed upon increasing awareness of recurring patterns and offering new perspectives and responses.

The collaborative work we do is based on an understanding that our biology is impacted by our historical emotional as well as physical experiences. Our nervous system can also be overloaded with stress or trauma from existing or past situations and all of this can have a negative impact on our ability to function in the world (go to school/work, maintain intimate relationships, form goals, organize action plans, problem solve).

You may find it difficult to concentrate, remember, or process new information. It is possible you may find it difficult to understand social situations or relate to others in a meaningful way. You may find that you are having the same relationship over and over again, but with different partners. Have you ever said, "Are there no reasonable men/women left in the world …. Why can't I find them? What is wrong, why do they always treat me this way?"

Research has shown that when the nervous system is overloaded (stress, trauma, physical illness) then our personal resilience is reduced and our capacity to respond to daily experiences becomes difficult. Relationships become challenged and our capacity to be loving, open, creative, compassionate, understanding, and nurturing is compromised.

Areas that often come up for clients:

- Feeling trapped
- Past events and trauma
- Personality issues
- Sexuality
- Conflict
- Anger
- Employment
- Relationships
- Anxiety / Depression
- Addictions
- and much more

If you would like to engage in some deep personal work (one-on-one) in a safe and comfortable location, please let me know so we can open the door of awareness together.

Often we see others who are struggling and need support but we just don't know what to do. Please share this information with anyone you feel would benefit from one-on-one support and deep personal work. Thank you for your interest in personal growth and planetary healing.

I am presently working with individuals, couples and small groups.

What are the differences between Counselling and Psychotherpay?

"The Health Professions Regulatory Advisory Council (HPRAC) Distinction between Psychotherapy & Counselling "The practice of psychotherapy is distinct from both counselling, where the focus is on the provision of information, advice-giving, encouragement and instruction, and spiritual counselling, which is counselling related to religion or faith-based beliefs." HPRAC: New Directions, 2006; Chapter 7, Regulation of Psychotherapy, p. 208. Psychotherapy and counselling can be highly interrelated." (CRPO)

Life Coaching

Whatever your circumstances, goals or dreams, it is clear your life is always in transition. Are you determined to move through the transition with grace and personal power? My practice is informed by Integral Theory, Eastern and Western traditions and common sense.

Individual Coaching is a great way to move through challenges or decisions that need a guiding hand along the way. Think about a coach for an Olympic athlete, strategies for success are formed, results are observed and measured, adjustments or follow-up is based on the goals and the most recent outcomes.

This same strategy is used for personal life coaching. Your personal goals are discussed, strategies for success are implemented and then the results measured. Many times adjustments are made based on the results from the coaching strategies in a continual journey toward personal accomplishment.

Personal coaching is a great way to get deeper clarity on areas of life that may be unclear or confusing. If you would like to meet the challenge of your life in a way that will open your heart and your mind, give me a call.

Individual and group sessions are available by request.
